Vacancy Notice: Teacher, Automotive Service Technology, Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Reports To: Principal

Position Summary: Teaches and prepares individuals to apply automotive technical knowledge and skills to repair, service and maintain all types of automobiles. You will teach the basic fundamentals of automotive diagnostics and repair. The Teacher will ensure student proficiency in brakes, electrical/electronic systems, engine performance and suspension and steering to prepare them for advancement and the ASE certification exams.

Position Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a job related area or an equivalent combination of work experience and education that satisfies vocational instructor requirements. Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups. Must hold current ASE or I-CAR certification (non-negotiable).

Experience: Experience teaching and working with adolescents in effective instructional strategies is preferred. Additional experience working in the automotive industry is also preferred.

Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:15am-4:00pm. Teachers are also expected to work planned Fridays six times in the school year.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Transportation Director for providing safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possession of or ability to obtain Colorado Class B P2S Commercial Driver’s License.
• Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Successfully complete training program for bus drivers.
• Meets all qualifications for Bus Driver
• Drug and Alcohol testing prior to and during employment
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Transportation Director establishes a workday based on needs. $20.33 per hour after training.

Substitute Teaching Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in Peyton School District.  We have a need for half-day  (7:15-11:30 or 11:30-4:00) and full-day subs (7:15-4:00).  Once you have received your CDE substitute teacher license, download and fill out our Substitute Teacher Application and drop it off to the district administration staff in the Career Technical Education Facility (18320 Main Street, Peyton, CO 80831).  Once all of your credentials have cleared, the district administration staff will notify the school secretaries and you will be added to the substitute teacher list to be called in times of need.
