Peyton School District Transportation Director
About Us
Peyton School District is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services to our students. We are seeking an experienced Transportation Director to lead our transportation department and ensure the highest standards of safety, service, and operational excellence.
Position Summary
The Transportation Director oversees all aspects of the district's student transportation services, including daily school bus operations, extracurricular and athletic trip transportation, fleet maintenance, driver management, and transportation budget administration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, transportation expertise, and a commitment to student safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the district's comprehensive student transportation program, including daily routes, special education transportation, and extracurricular trips
Supervise, train, and evaluate transportation staff, including bus drivers, mechanics, and administrative personnel
Develop and implement transportation policies, procedures, and safety protocols in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all district transportation vehicles
Create and optimize bus routes for efficiency while ensuring student safety and timeliness
Manage the transportation department budget, including forecasting needs, monitoring expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
Coordinate with school administrators, athletic directors, and other staff regarding transportation for field trips, athletic events, and other extracurricular activities
Respond to and resolve parent, staff, and community concerns regarding transportation services
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards
Develop and maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver certifications, student ridership, and other required documentation
Participate in emergency response planning and execution for district transportation needs
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in school transportation
Qualifications
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, or ability to obtain within six months of hire
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding student transportation
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Experience with budget management and resource allocation
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage emergency situations
Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and repair procedures
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged sitting or standing, moderate lifting, and other physical exertion
Must pass required physical examination and drug/alcohol screening
Vision and hearing sufficient to operate vehicles and communicate effectively

Peyton Elementary School Health Assistant: Part-time position: 2 days/week
Position Summary: The School Health Assistant provides essential support to the school nurse by assisting with the daily health needs of students and staff, including administering basic first aid, managing student health records, administering medication, performing specialized medical procedures and assisting with health screenings. They work under the direction of the Peyton school nurse, following established protocols and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
First Aid: Administering first aid to students and staff for minor injuries and illnesses, as directed by the school nurse.
Health Screenings: Assisting with routine health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests, under the supervision of the school nurse.
Record Keeping: Managing and maintaining student health records, including documenting health room visits and vital signs.
Medication Administration: May assist with the administration of medications, following strict guidelines and under the supervision of the school nurse.
Procedures: Performs specialized procedures as trained and delegated by the School Nurse, including diabetic glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, insulin dosage calculation, small-volume nebulizer treatment, urinary catheterization, g-tube feedings etc.
Health Room Management: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe health room environment.
Communication: Communicating with parents, staff, and the school nurse about student health concerns and needs.
Observation and Monitoring: Monitoring students for signs of illness or injury and reporting concerns to the school nurse.
Clerical Duties: Assisting with general clerical tasks, such as filing, sorting records, and answering phones.
Safety and Hygiene: Ensuring a safe and hygienic environment within the health room, including proper cleaning and disinfection.
Qualifications:
● Basic First Aid and CPR Certification: May be acquired after hire from the school.
● Knowledge of Common Student Health Issues: Understanding of common student illnesses and injuries, as well as basic health concepts.
● Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the school nurse.
● Ability to Work Independently and Follow Instructions: Ability to work independently while adhering to established protocols and procedures.
● Confidence to Handle Medical Emergencies: Ability to remain calm while responding to medical emergencies and high stress situations.
● Demonstrate Competency and Proficiency: Acquired and/or maintained knowledge, skills, and ability to assist students with special healthcare needs or perform specific health-related procedures in a safe and effective manner.

Fleet Service Technician
The Peyton School District is seeking applicants for a Fleet Service Technician position. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Transportation and be responsible for ensuring each student’s safe and efficient transportation by keeping the district’s vehicles/equipment in operation so that they do not present problems or interruptions to the educational or activity programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum two years of hands-on experience in repairing light, medium, and/or heavy-duty
vehicles/equipment.
* Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Class B-PS Commercial Driver’s License.
* Adapts to changes in responsibilities and work schedule with a positive attitude.
* Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Department of Education Annual Inspector
Qualification Certificate.
* Ability to perform repairs on school buses and related district vehicles.
* Provides own hand tools needed for repairing and servicing district vehicles/equipment.
* Ability to meet all the qualifications for a school bus driver.

ASE certification incentive—Each Peyton School District Fleet Service Technician who successfully obtains and maintains two ASE School Bus certifications will be entitled to a stipend of $750.00 per year. Peyton School District will only give this incentive up to a maximum of six ASE School Bus certifications. Peyton School District will reimburse the employee for the test and registration fees after the employee has successfully passed the test.

Substitute Teaching Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in Peyton School District. We need half-day (7:15-11:30 or 11:30-4:00) and full-day subs (7:15-4:00). Once you have received your CDE substitute teacher license, download and fill out our Substitute Teacher Application and drop it off to the district administration staff in the Career Technical Education Facility (18320 Main Street, Peyton, CO 80831). Once all of your credentials have been cleared, the district administration staff will notify the school secretaries, and you will be added to the substitute teacher list to be called upon in times of need.
