For many students, sixth grade marks the transition into middle school. Subjects are more complex, homework sheets become longer, and students are faced with new challenges and ideas. Sixth graders are becoming more self-reliant and more independent. Sixth graders will learn how to be better organizers in school. Sixth grade math goes beyond the basics of math and will excel in learning more Geometry in our Pearson math books. Students will apply their skills in science by using the scientific method process, which leads to many discoveries using Generation Genius. Students will explore more geography features/ history in social studies. Students will write daily and improve their research skills of gathering information as well as interpreting, organizing, and presenting it. Students will excel in language arts by summarizing and creating book report projects. Welcome to Sixth Grade!

Mrs. Murphy

Hello! My name is Brittany Murphy. I grew up in Colorado Springs/ Parker, Colorado. I now reside in Peyton, Colorado, with my fiancé. I attended school at Pikes Peak Community College/ University of Colorado Colorado Springs, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Elementary Education with endorsements in Culturally Linguistically Diverse Education. I was a student teacher in first grade, but switched to being a sixth-grade teacher last year, and it was the best decision for me. In my free time, I love hanging out with my family, playing with my three dogs, cooking, and watching the Avalanche hockey team. It is going to be an awesome year as your child will be growing and learning more than ever!
